Zev's first foray into the world of film

Ladies and gentlemen of the Academy, our next film in the Short Feature category is from an up and coming young auteur, an enfant terrible, if you will.

Entitled Ey! Ey! Eyyuu!, this Surrealist work begins contemplating darkness, and the void. A lone voice from off-camera engages the viewer directly. Gradually, the filmmaker adds additional detail establishing a setting and time, but really this could be happening anywhere, and its values are universal. Most of the action continues taking place outside the viewer's frame, building considerable tension until the dramatic reveal of our protagonist's identity. Note also the striking cinematography, which plays with light, shadow, and negative space, yet references both Classical and Cubist ideals of balance and composition.

The climax of the film comes when the protagonist, overcome with the drive for self-expression, tries to eat the camera, before receding once more into the void from whence he came.

Sheer elegance in its simplicity.
